This weekend our region brings yet again some great events to get out amongst and enjoy. One I am particularly looking forward to sitting back.. red wine in hand, a picnic basket full of goodies and great company is Legends On The Lawn at Werribee Park this coming Sunday. A magnificent venue and an amazing line up including Darryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, James Reyne and The Blacksorrows. Tickets are $47.50 per adult, children under 12 are free. Tickets can be bought at www.ticketmaster.com.au or refer to www.legendsonthelawn.com.au I think it will definitely be a must attend event and certainly one to remember.
If you love the sound of the bagpipes, a touch of tartan or anything a little Scottish then head down over the coming weekend to the Geelong Showgrounds to the 55th Highland Gathering. This year will apparently be the largest event of its kind to date and Sunday will be in particular jam packed full of all that is Scottish. Families $30 and further details and costings can be found on www.geelonghighlandgathering.org.au.
If the thought of watching yellow ducks racing in the Barwon Heads River might create a slight giggle and lots of fun, then head to Barwon Heads this weekend for the Barwon Heads Festival Of The Sea. Sunday again will be the big day and there will be an excess of entertainment, markets, food and music for the whole family to enjoy. For more information www.barwonheads.net
Other fantastic event options this coming weekend include:
Slattery Australia – Geelong St Patricks Cup www.geelongstpats.countryracing.com.au and Country Dahlia’s Festival in Winchelsea which is on all weekend.
If you have any spare minutes left after all of that excitement, then don’t forget our great regions plethora of markets, galleries and antiques, cafes, restaurants, wineries and the list goes on.
