Well here we are heading into a wonderful long weekend and we are certainly not going to be bored by any stretch of the imagination. There is loads of great stuff happening in this great region, the only must do however is a warm jacket and umbrella.
This weekend brings the much anticipated 10th National Celtic Festival which will take place down in the wonderful coastal town of Portarlington. Between 8-11 June, Portarlington will be lulled and rocked with a superb array of celtic music, dance, workshops and much more. It is the largest celebration of Celtic Music and Culture in the Southern Hemisphere and having attended last year I highly recommend you get onto the GPAC website, grab some tickets and head on down.
This weekend also brings the annual Anglesea Art and Craft Show which will be in it’s 27th year, this year. What started as an exhibition of 50 paintings is now a showcase of over 350 framed and unframed works of art, craft, mosaics, pottery, postcards, felting, hewellery, and machine sewn goods. Their famous Devonshire tea will also be available to enjoy. The exhibition will be held at Community Hall, McMillan St, Anglesea.
I know this is not a weekend event, but definitely rates a mention. Next Thursday 14 June grab the kids from school and head over to Simonds Stadium where the Qantas Wallabies Rugby Team will be waiting to sign autographs, give away some prizes and merchandise as well as some tickets to their clash with Wales at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 16 June.
This weekend brings the typical smorgasboard of wonderful markets but will also bring on Sunday the inaugural Makers and Growers Market which will be at Osborne House in North Geelong between 9-1pm, so head down for a wander in the gorgeous surrounds of Osborne House and the bay.
That’s the long weekend ahead and on that note we are off down the coast for the weekend ahead with friends, so have a great one and a safe one!
