93.9 BayFM Geelong
Well here we are the weekend following the long weekend, which now feels like a dull memory, doesn’t time just fly!!
Well the long weekend bought another phenominal Celtic Festival in Portarlington from all accounts, so jump on these tickets once their available through GPAC for next year’s fantastic event. BAY FM headed for the snow and had many stories to tell mmm……
This weekend is already shaping up to be a snuggle up by the fire but there are a few must do’s to drag you away from your state of leisure.
Do you enjoy a bit of a bit of a dance and a move? Well Courthouse Arts are holding a Hip Hop Class on Saturday between 9-10.30am. A bit of fun and a good bit of zest for the day ahead. A great venue and café and really worth a visit at any time.
The 2012 Scarf Festival starts exhibiting on Saturday at National Wool Museum and is a wonderful eclectic mix of original handcrafted scarfs. Most of them are available for purchase and there are some amazing designs and talent displayed. So head to the National Wool Museum and make a splurge on a definite one off piece of design art.
Is football not your gig? Not sure about how many of us here in Geelong could say no to that question, but if that is your answer or you are just a lover of all things sporty then head to Etihad Stadium for Saturday’s big rugby clash between Qantas Wallabies and Wales. Game starts at 8pm, so grab your woollies and thermas and head over.
Sunday brings the inaugural Makers and Growers Market which will launch at the wonderful Osborne House at 9am until 1pm. Osborne House is indeed a beautiful setting steeped in grand history and a really worthwhile visit. We were there a couple of weeks ago for the Antarctic Exhibition and managed to be taken around the house itself, which was extremely interesting hearing all the stories about the house and it’s origins.
Well that’s the weekend ahead and the last weekend that was. I would love to start getting some feedback from listeners about some of their favourite things to do in Geelong and the surrounding region. “Like” our Facebook page and then we would love to hear your stories.
Have a great weekend and stay warm.
