Well there is no doubt the event of ongoing coldness will dominate this weekend. But don’t sit at home bored, grab the family, rug everyone up and head out to some great events in this great region of ours.
First stop will have to be St Joseph’s College who have some exceptional artistic talent in their student body and will be displaying this at the St Joseph’s College 2012 Art Expo. I have seen some of the works which will be exhibited and for sale over the course of the weekend and they are really quite incredible and varied in what will be included. I know it will definitely not disappoint and is one event not to be missed.
This weekend also marks one that you won’t be forgiven for if you don’t take the kids and that is Queenscliff Bricks Lego Display which will be held at Point Lonsdale Primary School. Again I have had a small peak of the type of displays that will be included and if you want to see your kids in awe at what can be done with Lego blocks then off to Point Lonsdale you go. As a mum with young boys I certainly know we will never be given if they don’t get a peak at this one. However you must book your tickets on www.trybooking.com before heading there.
Another kids based event which they may not love but you will, is Baby and Kids Market which graces Geelong throughout the year and offers some great buys for your babies and kids and is on Saturday 9am – 1pm at 1 Barwon Heads Road, Belmont. Head there to grab some great bargains.
Saturday also brings the wonderful GSODA’s Dick Whittington to GPAC. It promises something for all ages with colourful sets and spectacular costumes and plenty of audience participation. There is a preview matinee Saturday, at 2pm with opening night Saturday night at 7.30pm. A great all family theatre production to attend.
Are you a vegie grower or cook up a storm in your kitchen creating some wonderful jams and condiments well if so, why not head with some of your delicious food items to Vitality Café on Saturday 9.30-11am for the Highton Food Swap and have a wonderful fairtrade tea or coffee while your at it?
Otherwise Torquay Central Farmers Market is on Saturday from 9am until 1pm or Portarlington Community Market on Sunday, 9am-2pm. Whatever you do have a wonderful weekend and stay warm and dry!
