93.9 BayFM Geelong

Well the kids are back at school on Monday and Mum can breath a little. My week off over the holidays definitely equated to loads of wonderful activities which were on offer but as a result a slightly lighter wallet. Thank goodness for the great free kids activities Geelong Central were offering and on that note, thank goodness for the great tastes on offer at “Tastes Of Central Geelong Festival” at the Central Geelong Farmers Market on Saturday. Celebrity Chefs: Nic and Rocco from My Kitchen Rules will be at the market from 11am demonstrating their amazing cooking style. Mark Hyland from BAY FM will also be broadcasting live at the market from 9am. So head along grab a great take out coffee, meet the celebrities and fill your recycled bag with lots of goodies ranging from fresh produce, preserves, spices, olive oils, fresh flowers and much more.
Now I know we have talked about the Blues Train in the past, my wedding band came from a fun night on the Blues Train, but that’s another story for another time……however it’s getting another mention because going into their 19th season they have an amazing deal on offer. August and September shows are being offered for only $50pp which is a saving of $45.20 per ticket. Nearly 50% off which is fantastic value as it includes a meal, four of Australia’s best blues acts plus a vintage ride through the breathtaking scenery of the Bellarine. I am definitely going to round up some good friends as at that price how could you not book a great night out on the Blues Train? They also have loads of accommodation options on offer, so what a good excuse for a weekend away. www.the bluestrain.com.au
Apart from that Sunday brings a good excuse in this woolly weather for a high tea in gorgeous surrounds being the new Customs House Restaurant. Very civilised, I say and what a good idea. Make sure you book, as bookings are essential.
From 10am-4pm there is a creative design market at Wintergarden. This is another iconic and gorgeous building here in Geelong and full of some great artistic homewares, jewellery and outdoor pots and ornaments. Sunday’s market will being quality original works, jewellery, sculptures and more on offer by some very creative locals.
Pandora’s Arthouse Café will be offering “For The Love Of Chocolate” from 2.30pm which they are calling quote unquote, a total chocolate experience. Delicious I say and thank goodness it’s winter and we can hide all that decadence under our winter coats. If you can’t make it Sunday, every Wednesday they offer the endless morning tea with bottomless cups of tea and coffee along with a sweet and savoury buffet for only $15.00. Great value, and all in a wonderful gallery atmosphere in Ryrie St.
Well that’s another weekend of Whats on, I hope that offers some great ideas and options in how to spend your time. Have a super one….
A weekend warmer in Daylesford might be a cliché, but it’s a delicious one. Crackling fires, big baths that bubble and froth, long walks through crunchy winter leaves...
