Today I am bringing you a snapshot of some great upcoming events and things to do over the month of August. So why not let me plan your weekends ahead and why don’t we get our pens poised for all that is happening in our great region.
Kicking off with one that’s already in my diary for my little men to go and enjoy and that is Bellarine Kids Expo from 10am-2pm. There will be a diverse range of things for the kids to enjoy, as well as some good information sharing in regards health and wellbeing for the parents. It is only $5 per family so hop onto www.bellarinekids.com.au for more information and I’ll see you there!!
For those that appreciate sitting back and indulging in some wonderful classical pieces then next Sunday from 2.30pm Geelong Chorale will be showcasing their wonderful renditions at Sacred Heart College in Newtown. Tickets are only $20 or concession $15.
Next weekend also brings the Arts Trail to the Surfcoast and over 30 venues will open their doors to the public and display their many and varied artistic forms from jewellery to sculptures, photography and ceramics just to name a few. www.visitsurfcoast.com will provide further information about the event as well as trail maps which will indicate where to find all the venues.
As per our wonderful cover this month the weekend of 18-19 August brings the International Lighthouse Weekend to Cape Otway. I think the best way to enjoy this event is to book some great accommodation, pack up the family, hop in the car and enjoy the incredible scenery along the way and the amazing Otway region. We were there over the Queen’s Birthday weekend and gosh it always leaves me in awe as to the surrounds. Make a weekend out of it and head to the Otway’s for this great annual event.
Markets to look out for over the month include:
Central Geelong Farmers Market on 11 August in Little Malop St,
The Winter Market at Wintergarden on 19 August
The new Makers and Growers Market at Osborne House on 19 August 9-1pm
Baby and Kids Market which comes to Geelong a handful of times a year is on again 25 August 9-1pm.
And all the wonderful regular markets of course will keep providing all their great produce and goodies for us to enjoy.
That’s it for this week, I hope that gives everyone some great ideas on planning their leisure time in August. There are always so many great choices. Enjoy.
