Barwon Water says it needs to release excess water from the Portarlington Water Reclamation Plant because its storage lagoons are full.
The plant treats domestic wastewater from parts of the Bellarine and supplies what’s known as Class C recycled water to Scotchmans Hill and the Portarlington Golf Club.
Class C water is suitable for irrigating public open spaces and certain crops.
