More voluntary redundancies will be called at Geelong's Gordon TAFE by the end of this month.

Gordon CEO Grant Sutherland has told a public meeting overnight the call for redundancies will be made within weeks, as the college struggles to deal with funding cuts by the state government in this year's budget.

But he’s told the meeting he'll be asking the government for special funding consideration to take into account Geelong's special needs including helping who need new skills for work.

The state government has slashed hundreds of millions of dollars from TAFE funding in what’s widely viewed as an attempt to privatise the tertiary education sector by stealth.

The cuts have forced TAFEs to sack thousands of staff and close campuses.
