The defending champ remains second overall, after finishing 12th, with leader BRADLEY WIGGINS crossing the line right behind him.

And fellow Aussie MATTHEW GOSS has gained some ground on PETER SAGAN in the race for the green jersey.

GOSS took out the intermediate sprint in the stage, with SAGAN’s lead in the points category now down to 27.
